One of the ways to reach the Alhambra is by bus

Alhambra is just 2.5 km (1.5 miles) from Granada’s city center, and you can reach it by bus, taxi, car, or on foot. 

The easiest and most popular way is by taking the C30, C32, or C35 bus, all of which stop right near the ticket office or even inside the complex. 

If you’re coming by car, follow A-395 and exit at 5A—just note that private cars can’t go directly into the palace area, but there is nearby parking. 

No matter how you choose to travel, the journey to the Alhambra is part of the experience, so pick what suits you best and enjoy every step!

By Bus

Alhambra is 2.5 Km (1.5 Miles) from the center of Granada City. 

To reach Alhambra by bus, take the C3 municipal bus line from Calle Padre Suárez, near Plaza Isabel la Catolica. Get off at the last stop, Alhambra-Generalife, which is the closest to the complex.

You can also board the buses C30, C32, and C35, which leave every 8–12 minutes from Plaza Isabel la Católica 4.

If you board the C30 bus, get off at the final stop, Alhambra-Generalife 2, and from there, you can walk to the Alhambra Ticket office. 

The C32 bus goes through the Albaicín route and stops at the Alhambra-Generalife 2.

Hop on the bus C35 and hop off at the Paseo de la Sabica 38 – Parque Alixares stop, from there it is a 2-minute walk to the Ticket office.

The Buses C30 and C32 have three stops inside the Alhambra Castle. They are: 

  • Entrance Pavilion (ticket office)
  • Tower of the Heads (near Charles V Palace and Nasrid Palaces)
  • Gate of Justice (closest to Alcazaba)

The entire journey from the Granada bus station to the Alhambra takes about 30 minutes.

By Car

If you are traveling by car, just turn on your Google Maps and get started!

To reach Alhambra by car, take the A-395 road, stay in the left lane, and exit at the 5A road.

Private transport is not allowed to enter the Alhambra Palace from the city center.

Don’t worry! There’s parking for Alhambra, which is located near the main entrance and ticket office.

By Taxi

Taking a taxi is another best way to reach Alhambra.

Taxis in Granada run 24/7 and are easy to find. You’ll usually get one within 5 minutes. They are white cars with a green stripe on the door.

By foot

It’s best to walk the last mile of the Alhambra to enjoy its surroundings.

There are two ways to reach Alhambra on foot:

The first route starts from Plaza Nueva and goes up the Cuesta de Gómerez through the Puerta de las Granadas(Pomegranates Gate). 

Then, you will reach the main road, Paseo del Generalife, and walk till you reach the Access Pavilion with the ticket offices.

The walk is about 1.4 kilometers (1 mile) and takes around 15 to 20 minutes.

The other way starts from route Paseo de los Tristes, crossing the Darro River, and goes up, ending near the main entrance.

The walk covers a distance of 850 meters (around half a mile) and takes about 13 minutes.
